Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) is one of the leading laser research institutes in Germany and abroad covering the whole area of laser technology and optics. Around 200 staff, including engineers and physicists, provide customer-specific solutions in all areas of laser technology, from nanomachining and micromachining, automotive sheet metal welding, the development of medical lasers, and aerospace measurement technology applications. LZH primarily supports the growth of small and medium-sized industrial companies working in these fields in Germany.

LZH's work concentrates on many fields including laser development, lasers for medical technology and biophotonic applications, the development and characterisation of optical components, process control and regulation, quality assurance, equipment development, laser measuring technology, cutting and welding, surface treatment, micromachining, rapid prototyping, and laser safety.

The Hanover Center for Production Technology (PZH) -
Science and industry under one roof

The essence of PZH is the very close co-operation between research and industry. Six production engineering institutes of the University of Hannover, as well as industrial partners, all work under one roof in a space occupying 22,000 square metres. 250 scientific staff members, 110 technicians and administrative staff, and approx. 400 student support staff work and carry out research at PZH - forming a high performance community with in-depth expertise and innovative power.
